Daily Routines

by The Philosophical Fish

We all have daily routines that have been disrupted by being asked to work from home where possible.

Some people love working from home, I don’t.

It’s not that I’ve never done it before. I was self-employed for a number of years and worked from home most of the time. It was ok…..

But I don’t really understand how people can get up and work in their pajamas. I couldn’t hang out and feel that I was working seriously if I was wearing fuzzy bunny slippers (maybe because I don’t own fuzzy bunny slippers).

I need to maintain some semblance of routine.

However…. makeup has certainly gone by the wayside since I am not going into the office.

Today was an exciting day, I had a reason to actually put a little bit of makeup on. Well…mascara anyway. A coworker had sent me an email earlier in the week, like so many did, containing the Dr. Bonnie Henry shoes that John Fluevog designed. That aside, every spring she usually brings me in a bag or three of rhubarb from her garden. Since the office is closed, she invited me to come and pull as much as I wanted from her fabulously massive plants.

An outing!!!

After pulling a few bags worth of gorgeous rhubarb from which i am looking forward to some delicious treats, we sat outside on chairs placed responsibly, and had a visit. I am starting to realize that there might just be a limit to the extent of my introversion and that I am reaching that boundary. So a social visit was welcome.

While there, another friend called Kirk and asked if it would be a good time to for them to come by and sit in our yard for a visit. So we left one yard chat and drove home to enjoy another. It was hard to not give hugs on seeing them, and on saying goodbye.

I am looking forward to visiting my hatcheries again, and seeing the fabulous people who work at them.

I am looking forward to breaking out my Fluevogs again, to putting the other side of my closet back into active use, and to having a reason to put lipstick and eyeshadow on again 🙂

Like everyone, I am looking forward to better days when I can hug my friends.

Stay safe, stay well, and virtual hugs all around.
