My morning commute to the hatchery was on foot, for the first time in a few weeks. I drove to the office a few times last week because our internet was out and I couldn’t hike the trails because of my bum knee. Embarrassing to drive that far because it’s so close.
Kirk didn’t think I should walk it today, certainly not with my heavy backpack on, but I’m nothing if not stubborn, and stupid in my bullheadedness sometimes.
And so I wobbled off, determined that my knee needs to move if it’s going to ever improve.
And halfway down the hill on Pipeline Trail…. I regretted that decision. My knee twinged and I was stuck for a few moments wondering what my next move was going to be. The twinge passed and I made it, albeit slower than usual, a lot slower.
Along the way I encountered this little guy and, ever the opportunist…I crouched down….and immediately wondered if I was going to be able to get back up, particularly with the added weight on my back.
But I did, and I bumbled on.
Home was easier…up is easier than down on my knee.
And so it goes.
