Cityscapes, hammers, mushrooms, motorcycle ornaments, and good friends (335/365/2023)

by The Philosophical Fish

It’s been a long week. Longer for Kirk than me I think, he had to spend four days at home listening to jackhammers in our living room and outside our walls as workers raised our foundation on a corner that’s been sinking over the 70+ years this place has been here. Things accelerated when a townhouse complex went in across the street and they screwed with the water table by putting in an underground parking lot and the required water management in a neighbourhood not designed even for basements. But our home is no longer sinking, so that’s a plus.

So at the end of a long week, neither of us felt like thinking about dinner so out to a restaurant on the waterfront we went. And we were reminded, yet again, of what a beautiful place we live, despite the often present rain.

The other stuff in the title?

When I came home this afternoon I found a parcel at the front door. I was caught off guard… Over dinner I reached out with a text asking why, what…should we open it?

Heart.

Because.

Sure.

And it was a box full of thoughtfulness and laughter.

A pendant; tiny mushrooms embedded in epoxy. I took a lot of photos of mushrooms this fall 🙂

A hammer….no surprises who that was for…and no, he doesn’t have that particular hammer….well…now he does!

And the best Christmas tree ornament EVER! Handmade, meaningful and, when we finally get our tree up after repairing the hole in the living room floor once the concrete has had a few days to cure, it will hang next to motorcycle bear ❤️.

Thank you Hans, you gave us a laugh, a smile, and heart-hug today ☺️ It was a good year on the bikes and you were a huge part of that.

I'd love to hear from you :)
