This is Capilano Lake, our drinking water reservoir, just 2.5km up the road from where I live, and about 600 metres from where I work.

Yesterday I did a trail run and bunged my knee again. Stairs up and down last night were awful. Today it felt a bit better, a little twingy…but ok. So, since I need to get moving more on a more daily’ish basis, we opted for a hike. The intent was just up the service road and back, but it was feeling ok’ish so I took us a different way, then the longer way, then a slightly harder way, just not the most technical way….and the knee survived with minimal grumbling.

I was thinking about why it is acting up and I imagine it’s because I’ve not only fallen off the running in the past few months, but also the hiking. When I was at my most active, I was running M/W/F and hiking T/Th/Sat/Sun….and it was the hiking that was building the strength. In the past six months, since taking the new position, I also have seen an increase in my resting heart rate again, a decrease in my VO2max, and an increase in my walking heart rate…and of course the scale is creeping up again. All indicators that I need to move more, and harder.

Time to figure out how to juggle the new job, the changed working schedule and locations, and still maintain a better routine than I’ve managed the past six months.

All that aside….

Here is nice.

I'd love to hear from you :)
