My garden is a battleground for a vast variety of plants; I’m a bit of a “survival-of-the-fittest” gardener. If it’s fussy and needs a lot of specialized care, it probably won’t last long in my garden.
Many arrived here as donations; booted out of their own homes and dropped on my doorstep as orphans.
Many were poorly considered purchases at annual plant sales where things are often so inexpensive that “I can find a place for it” is the mantra.
And some looked better on the tag but haven’t yet been yarded out of their spot in favour of something more pleasing or better behaved.
The Siberian Bugloss falls into the last category.
The leaves are lovely, the flowers tiny and reminiscent of Forget-me-not….but the darn plant has a growth habit that just annoys me. It doesn’t stay in a neat mount, instead sprawling in a way that irritates me.
I actually thought I’d pulled it out last year…..but now I remember that, after blooming, I’d trimmed it back and it basically behaved for the rest of the season.
I suppose I’m probably doing that again….
