I love old cameras.

I wonder about the stories they have participated in.

What adventures did they record?

What lives did they document, what celebrations?

Did they capture more laughter than tears?

Did they bring hearts together across distances?

Did they capture love?

This one did not come to me through family or friends, I found it on eBay and added it to my collection. It does work, though medium format film is costly and I would probably not manage to take a single shot worth the cost of processing. But it might be fun to try sometime.

It is such a strangely different way to frame and shoot an image, from the top down. It seems so unnatural, much the way looking at an LCD on the back of my little Lumix still seems.

I still prefer to frame a photo through a viewfinder, it just “feels” right. Thus a heavy Nikon DSLR still remains my favourite camera.
