Botanica

by The Philosophical Fish

Have I ever mentioned that I hate stairs? Probably once or twice. North Vancouver is filled with staircases….you really can’t take an afternoon walk without navigating at least one set. Some of them are daunting. Like this set. It reaches right up to, and past, the top of the frame. Up is hard!

It’s my favourite time of year from a botanical perspective. Everything is in leaf, the flowers that often clutter up the foliage plants that I love the textures of are gone, and the light filters so beautifully through the canopy of leaves in the trees above.

I didn’t find a lot to inspire me on the walk this afternoon though, so today’s photo was a toss up between the two below. I landed on the “from above” shot after consulting with Kirk on which one he liked better. Both are of the bear’s breeches plant again. It makes for interesting images with its sharp textures, bold flowers, and heavy veining.

But I agree with Kirk, the second shot is just…interesting.

I'd love to hear from you :)
