After running a few errands (picking up some things curbside at Lee Valley) we were craving some saganaki and a glass of wine. So…we popped by a local Greek restaurant that reopened two days ago and crossed our fingers there would be room on the patio.
There was.
We grabbed a table and enjoyed the company of a server we’d shared conversations with many times before, and did so again.
So many things to navigate now.
The restaurant has been busy with deliveries and pickups, so that was good to hear. But, unthinkingly, we sat at a table that would have seated four, but we were just two. After our wine had been delivered I expressed my apologies but she was gracious and, in the end, there was no demand that wasn’t met by other tables.
But it’s something I now need to be more considerate of when we are asked to select our own table outside.
It wasn’t terribly busy, having been open for in-house dining for only two days now, so we also didn’t need to worry about lingering. With restaurants running at half capacity, it’s also courteous to enjoy the meal, but move on without lingering excessively.
And tip generously.
Honestly, it was so glorious to sit on the patio, in the sunshine, and enjoy a good glass of wine and some Greek food.
We were grateful. It “almost” felt normal.
As the umbrella reminded us….
Celebrate.
Everyday.
For example…..we will be celebrating garlic until tomorrow….
