I’m actually feeling anything but loving at the moment.
I spent the day finishing up a pile of marking for one of my courses, which means that I was at home on a day off from my main job…and Gizmo has done practically nothing but scream all day long…from about 9am until now…3:30pm.
I am a person who does not like loud noises, they get under my skin and irritate me to the point of irrational anger…particularly when the continue unabated for an entire day.
I love peace and quiet.
So why do I have a parrot?
Good question.
Really, really, good question.
Because 28 years ago he really. really, needed a forever home, and I was young and stupid.
And I believe that when one takes on the responsibility for a pet, one accepts that they will shoulder that responsibility for the lifetime of said pet.
So I’m ethically and morally stupid.
And because of that, I have lived with a scream-machine for 28 years.
So far.
He’s 32.
I do love the little monster, but as the world is my witness…I cannot stand working at home due to his presence in the house, and I have just about gone out of my mind because of him today.
Because he just….hasn’t….quit….yelling….all….day!!!!
Tough love…challenging love.
Ugh.
