October 17, 2015 – One of our local mooches. There are three Stellar’s Jays that come around regularly, but one always sits on the outside table, right close to the living room window, and waits for his peanuts.
If we don’t see him, he lets us know that he is losing patience with a raucous yell.
We had one (of three) that came around our old condo on a daily basis too. The one would often sit on the rail outside my window for hours at a time on rainy days. Happy to be out of the weather he would sit and quietly mumble away to himself, occasionally letting out a bellow if he saw me inside and wanted some peanuts.
We were kind of sad when we moved away from our little wild friend, but it didn’t take long for a new one to train us up here at the new place.
Or maybe that other one followed us….. hard to know for sure.

I love their raucous call. There was a similar bird I heard in Thailand, and it reminded me of our sassy friends in Canada
