August 19, 2015 – Remember when a quarter bought a lot more than it does today?
A quarter used to (not so long ago) buy a pay phone call….now you can hardly find a payphone. You used to be able to buy a chocolate bar or a cup of coffee. Those older than I will remember when you could buy a beer for a quarter. There is the longstanding and somewhat famous Vancouver panhandler who has been found on various street corners during the noon hour…when she is on her lunch break (!) asking passersby “Got a quarter?” And does anyone else remember staying in a hotel where a quarter could be plugged into that little box at the side of the bed and you could go for a ride?
I only thought of that because there is a commercial on TV these days for mortgage brokers and there is a quick clip of a guy sitting on a vibrating bed.
But it does make me wonder….do those exist anymore?
And did anyone ever use one?
Maybe I don’t actually want anyone to answer that last question…..

best are to find the old ones that are still made of silver. Find one on rare occasions. They make such a neat sound.
