Wouldn’t it be great if it was always that easy? (99/365)

Wouldn't it be great if it was always that easy? (99/365)

April 9, 2015 – Today started as a day of dread…one filled with meetings from 9am until 4pm.

In the end they went well and were productive, and there was one of those “six degree of separation moments” where you realize it’s really more like two.

What has that got to do with Wall-E needing a pill?

Nothing, of course. This is me!

I rarely have a logical reason for my blatherlings.

I walked into my meeting and a retired woman, who is working on contract/casual because of her expertise in policy and guidance, says to me…”So (insert name here) asked me the other day “Do you know Paige Ackerman?” And of course Carol said yes.

But I think Carol was more surprised than I was, particularly when I said why I knew the woman in question.

“I used to cut her son’s hair about 25 years ago.”

Isn’t it funny how the world swirls and disconnects and reconnects us all? People you knew 20 or 30 years ago suddenly reappear in your life unexpectedly, or sometimes unsurprisingly, as in this case. It wasn’t a question of if, but rather when, our lives would cross again. They do from time to time, but given that we both exist in different branches of a similar world (fish), it was always expected.

Sometimes the reconnections are fleeting.

Sometimes they are business related and exist when necessary.

Sometimes they surprise you because friendships long forgotten are rekindled and have a different strength and resiliency because you are older, wiser, and have taken some knocks that make you appreciate the people in your life.

And sometimes you just wish you could find that proverbial pill to make someone’s life a little easier.

Enter Wall-E.

It didn’t work out quite how I’d hoped, but Wall-E seems to always be able to express things with a simple gesture than I ever can with words.

Life rarely goes the way we plan it. But sometimes it’s just nice to know that people care, even if their caring can’t really fix the problem.

For you Hans. I wish it could help. Hope you feel better soon.

I'd love to hear from you :)

In a good way, 2 ways. It needed to get out as pragmatism only lasts so long and I have the bestest friends.
