Time to Eat Cake (75/365)

March 16, 2015 – Got home late and wasn’t feeling inspired…so it’s cake tonight.

I used to bake a lot, particularly when I used to be at UBC because I could bake, sample, and then give the rest away. It wasn’t until my the latter days of my PhD that this became an issue as my last two lab-mates were fantastic cooks/bakers.

Now I have to find smaller recipes to make, but I still don’t really eat a tonne of sweets, so a sample is usually good enough for me.

This is a blood orange cake that I hadn’t made before. It came out nicely moist, not too sweet, and the citrus lightens and brightens it up so it’s not heavy tasting.

Possibly a do-again.

A crappy photo really, but that’s the way it goes some days and it’s not worth getting too bent over it. Oh well, at least I have cake to eat 🙂
