January 27, 2013 – Mother Nature was fickle this weekend. Friday afternoon, on the way back across the Strait on the ferry, the sun came out and created a brilliant seascape. By the time I was back in Horseshoe Bay, the sky was blue and the afternoon was simply fabulous. When Kirk picked me up from the ferry terminal we were both thinking that we’d go for a ride on Saturday and leave the Seattle Boat Show until Sunday, how could we not think that we would, as the daylight came to a close the sky promised nothing but awesomeness for the weekend.
But darn if Mother Nature isn’t a fickle one. Saturday dawned grey and rainy, and a ride wasn’t even on the mild interest list. In fact, driving to Seattle wasn’t even of interest. So instead Kirk spent the day trying to finish up a job, and I shredded several years worth of old tax returns.
But the weekend wasn’t a complete write off, we did end up down at Granville Island Market today and that’s always something that we love doing. Living on the coast means that there is access to some of the most wonderful fresh foods at the local markets. I love the sights, the sounds, and the scents. Fresh caught fish, fresh baked breads, fresh made pastas, fabulous cheeses, organic sausages…mmmmm!
So, not what was planned, but that’s the way life goes, and having a fall back like the Market makes for a fun weekend despite crappy weather.
