November 19, 2012 – Milo has many favourite things, but I think his very most favourite is tissue paper. Kirk bought me a gift while I was away and it was wrapped in a few sheets of tissue paper.
They didn’t last long.
Back home, strange day. It doesn’t feel as if I’ve been away for ten days, it’s all a blur. My manager knew why I’d been away, and it didn’t take long before a few others found out and there were some heartfelt sympathies. What is interesting is that when something like this happens, you find that almost everyone around you has been touched by some similar event. Several people asked why I was even at work, my only answer was that it was better than staring at a wall all day. Besides, it’s nice to be around other people and just doing something else.
I called Mom this morning before my teleconferences were to get underway, and she managed the telephone on her own. That was awesome. She was to hopefully have a chest x-ray to see how her swallowing was working. She was also to spend some physio time in a chair and was looking forward to that. My aunt tells me that she still isn’t eating much, and we are just hoping her appetite will return and she’ll start to eat more. It’s hard when everything you are presented is pureed and/or thickened and you can’t even have a tea.
Step by step.
Day by day.
