November 9, 2012 – Loki puts his nose to the grind. He loves the warmth of the laptop, but he also opens things and changes settings sometimes.
Rough day today, one foot in front of the other. Hard to get on the plane, hard to hold it together, hard to go to the hospital, very hard to see Mom looking so frail and small in that bed. And so heartbreaking to see her frustration. I am so much like her in personality, so I have a pretty good idea of the things she is thinking and feeling emotionally, the things she is afraid of.
Aren’t parents supposed to be invincible? I don’t know what’s better or worse – watching a parent disappear slowly and surely, or being blindsided by something violent and unexpected. Right now I have both happening so I have the unenviable position of being able to compare the two. Hopefully, one will recover with a lot of work.
One day at a time.
