220/365 (August 8, 2011) – OK, so this is pretty much the coolest thing anyone has ever given me out of the blue!
Today marked day 1 of a 5 day fish health workshop I was putting on for DFO staff. I was stressed to the nines since not only had I not put this on for two years, but I hadn’t been given the lead time I usually get, and in my class were not only my new manager, but also a regional director for community programs and a couple of other guys from the office at my new place of employment. I’m used to working with hatchery staff and volunteers, not people at this level, not people who don’t work hands on with fish. I was at the University hours early to get my head in line. One hatchery staff member from a facility on North Vancouver Island walks in a bit early and says “I have a present for the teacher”.
She had brought me a gift that a co-worker of hers (and a wonderful guy I’d taught about 6 years earlier) had found in a garage sale and bought for me. There were actually two old cameras in the box, but this one was in such amazing condition, and even had the original packaging! So cool! The entire thing folds up into a compact little flat package.
It made my day, nah, it made my week!
Thanks Gord! I will definitely take you out for beers when I get to Campbell River!!!

yeah I figured you would enjoy it, thanks for the kind words too.
THRILLED with it Gord! I’ve wanted something like this for my collection for ages! Again, thank you so, so much. Just so happy you thought of me when you saw it.
That’s a special gift to get out of the blue. Bet you took the class on a high after that.
