191/365 (July 10, 2011) – I know I’ve said it before but, we often fail to look at the little things, the things we think are common. When is the last time you stopped and just admired a leaf for awhile?
We are so busy looking for the next great thing, the next great experience, we want excitement, experiences, that we forget to slow down and just “be”. To stop and admire the beauty in nature’s patterns. The natural flow. Sometimes it’s great to just stop and follow the flow, appreciate things that existed before us, and will exist after we are gone. Nature has regenerative staying power.
Had a great day today. We rode out to Langley and spent four hours, just three of us, doing maintenance on our bikes. I’m kinda proud of myself. I did (under supervision) my own oil and filter change, lubed my chain, tightened my chain, adjusted my clutch and brake levers, lubed my clutch, adjusted my tire pressure…. I’m not sure I’ve ever had that much oil and grease on me, but I learned a lot and can now safely say that I can now do basic motorcycle maintenance on my own. I never ever thought I’d do all that myself, that’s what Kirk or the dealer are for, but it was kinda cool to do it myself and learn a lot about my bike in the process.
