Dry Day

by The Philosophical Fish

On the one hand, I am so happy to have had a crisp and sunny day to walk home in. It feels like it’s been a really wet winter. I don’t know if it’s been wetter than usual, probably not…it’s called the “Wet Coast” for a reason.

I do know that we have had a paucity of snow. Today the headline read that BC was in a “snow drought”.

That’s a new one.

Usually it’s just “low snowpack”.

But snow drought? That’s probably not good since the snow pack feeds the rivers in the summer months, and into the fall, and helps support the salmon populations. So as much as I appreciate the dry weather for my mental health, I already know that this summer/fall, unless it is a really wet and crappy summer, is not going to be a good one from an environmental standpoint.
