Boat Show

by The Philosophical Fish

No, we didn’t find our next boat yet, but we are getting closer.

In the meantime, we enjoyed ourselves at the show, both the indoors part at the convention centre where we bought a “Pop-up dock” and a 12V pump for it. Now we just need to get the boat to go with it!

As we wandered through the power boats at the indoor show, I glance to my left at a beat up old boat and jokingly said “It looks like Relic’s boat”….and Kirk pointed at the cardboard cutout of Relic standing in front of it.

Apparently it WAS Relic’s boat.

The Persephone lives in Gibsons so we’ve seen it many times, it’s currently in storage for restoration. But I’ve never seen Relic’s boat anywhere but on tv. It’s as beat up in real life as it ever looked on the show.

It was SUCH a gorgeous day. A welcome change from the pervasive ‘wet’ that has been our weather for so long. Granville Island was a bit of a zoo, and we did not find a boat there that caught our attention. The one we looked at back in November at Granville Island was very nice, but not “right” enough for us to have made an offer. It may have an offer on it now and I’m not as sad as I thought I’d be since there are two in the US, one in Seattle and one outside of Portland, that we are probably going o go look at next weekend, and we feel like one of those might be the right one.

They both check most of the boxes.

This time of year the fog sits just off the land and hovers over the water. Driving back to North Vancouver took us through a fog bank, up over it, back down through it, and back into the sunshine on the other side.
