Wall-E and the Cucamelons….

by The Philosophical Fish

OK, I’ve been away from my computer for the better part of two weeks and have a ton of catching up to do, so there will be some belated posts coming over the next week or two as I catch up on processing photos taken while out of town.

Last night, when we got home, we spent a bit of time watering a few things to save them from imminent death, and today there was much time spent sorting out sad plants, picking tomatoes and cucumbers, salvaging things that were at death’s door, and discovering things that were unexpected.

Like the handful of cucamelons.

I had no idea what I’d planted, other than it was supposed to be something akin to a cucumber, but looked like a miniature melon.

I was unprepared for just how “mini” mini was supposed to be.

But then again, the flowers are equally mini.

The vine went feral while I was away, and it went a bit everywhere. As I tugged and tucked the tendrils I started seeing the little fruits hanging on such thin little threads.

They were so tiny!

But they also looked like they should be ripe.

So I ate one.

And it was ripe.

A tiny little pop of cucumber like flavour burst in my mouth and brought a smile.

I will plant these again, if only for the novelty.
