On the walk in today…I told myself…”Self….take no slug photo today!“
And I walked by a dozen yellow banana slugs without pausing.
And then I met this handsome fellow on the trail.
But as I leaned down to say hello and take his mug shot, an overly friendly big black standard poodle lurched into me and frightened him. He pulls into his hood and turtled for a bit while I held the dog off with one hand as it desperately tried to give me a tongue wash.

The overly friendly dog’s owner came round the corner and rescued me and my slimy friend.
She was polite enough to not ask me why I was crouched in the middle of a trail, phone to the ground, in front of a particularly large and elegant brown and black slug.
After a few moments, the slug decided it was safe to un-turtle and he returned to his slow crossing of the path.
And I took a photo of a slug after telling myself I would not take a photo of a slug.
