Kirk walked in the door and said “Do you want to go up the hill?”
Hell yes!
We haven’t been up there since Canada Day, which was also the day I messed up my knee on a hike up there.
No hike today, just a gondola ride up and then dinner at the Altitudes Bistro. Except when we got up there, there was a wedding being set up and the function had taken over both the Observatory Restaurant and Altitudes.
Well shoot.
Plan B was a walk over to the Rusty Rail, an outdoor beer and burger place with a giant patio. It was sunny, though cool up top, but it was a perfect day for a couple of happy hour beers and a chicken burger for me, salmon burger for him.
The hill is not as busy a this time of year, for obvious reasons …. like….. no snow…but they have a mountain bike terrain park now, and there are certainly many other things to entertain tourists…local and non. The grizzly bears, the raptor show, the logger sports show, zip lines, and hiking of course.
The funny thing about taking this photo of the chairlift was that everyone nearby immediately looked up every time I pointed the camera upwards. It reminded me of some old Just For Laughs Gags bit.

We even stopped and had a cutthroat match of giant Connect Four and had a pair of older women stop in fascination and eventually ask what it was we were playing. One was wearing a I Love Canada hat, the other was sporting an I Love Vancouver hat. Both from Nevada.
It was a lovely impromptu early evening.
