Wild Blueberry

by The Philosophical Fish

I have been looking at this little plant in recent weeks…trying to figure out/remember what the heck it is. It’s a cute little…like really little, low bush with little discernible features.

Until today, when I looked at it again, with camera in hand.

And I saw a teeny tiny little blue coloured berry hidden in between he twigs and leaves.

Ahhhh…yes…it’s a native (wild) blueberry.

No massive berries on this thing, just tiny little spheres of flavour, the kind I used to pick through the underbrush to ferret out as a child…seeking little sweet treats. Interior huckleberries, wild strawberries, and wild blueberries were treasures that were so much tastier than Saskatoon berries.

And I apparently have one in my garden that making a go of things.

I had to go through two different cameras to get the shot I was envisaging. The Panasonic was not playing nice and I found myself pulling out the “real” camera (one of the Nikons) and attaching my oldest lens….a Nikkor 60mm macro lens that my Dad bought me more than 30 years ago.

It did the trick.
