I had never heard of a cucamelon until I saw some seeds when I was picking seeds for cucumbers, tomatoes, and carrots early this year.

Given that this little thing is only about 5mm long…I think it will be a while before I learn what a cucamelon is.
What I do know is what I read not he packet….basically that cucamelons are also known as Mexican sour gherkins or mouse melons, and are small, grape-sized fruits that resemble miniature watermelons.
How cute does that sound!?
They apparently have a refreshing cucumber flavor with a hint of citrus and can be eaten raw, pickled, or used in salads. Native to Mexico and Central America, they are supposedly easy to grow. Mine is primly climbing the mesh netting and reaching for the sky.
When this little thing reaches edible size, I’ll let’cha know!
In other news…my dallies are now starting to toss their pretty flowers forward.
