I was in the grocery store not that long ago and caught off guard when I saw a row of PoP Shoppe pop on the cooler shelves.
I hadn’t seen the stuff since the early 80’s. Like not since before I left home.
To be fair, I don’t drink pop anymore, and really haven’t since I was a kid. But this one brought back many memories of going to the PoP Shoppe down by the railyard.
We’d drive down with our crates of empty bottles and return them, then my brother and I got to choose our favourite flavours and take the freshly filled crate home and put the new, full bottles on the shelves in the cold room in the basement.
My picks were always: grapefruit, lemon-lime, lime-rickey, pineapple, and black cherry.
