So many things flowering in the garden at the moment. I’m not an active flower gardener by any means though. By and large I like foliage, shades of green, textures, and movement.
Flowers are just an added bonus on an interesting plant, but anything that has a nice flower and an uninteresting foliage generally doesn’t have a long life expectancy in my garden.
Case in point. Saxifrage. I love the low growing succulent-looking plants that spread well and provide a dappled green and yellow colour along the edge of one section of the garden. The flowers are a short lived bonus that are all the more interesting when viewed close and personal. They stand on tiny sprays up to a foot above the squat little plants below. Teeny tiny little flowers about the size of my pinkie fingernail.
But so detailed when you look closely!
And although I’ve taken many photos of them over the years, I’d never noticed how much the centres look like little two-topped touques with pom-poms on the end.

The yard also contains silliness…. I’d forgotten that a little three-inch Deadpool sits reading on a swing against one of the brick walls….
Don’t judge me.
He makes me smile.
