Waterfall of Maidenhair Ferns

by The Philosophical Fish

I have a thing for ferns, I think they are just so fascinating and, generally, gorgeous. Particularly at this time of year. All the new fronds reaching out for light.

Maidenhair ferns are one of my favourites and I have several large and apparently happy clumps of Western Maidenhair Ferns in the garden at home. I love their delicate black stems and, at this time of year, their brilliant contrasting green fan shaped fronds.

I walk past this bank on my way to work most days, but today it stood out more than usual. Most likely because it was a gloomy morning and it had rained overnight, so the ferns shone in the dark surroundings, and the recent moisture has them busting into growth.

It felt almost like a waterfall….a waves of fern fronds cascading down the bank, leading me into the corner on my way up the staircase.

Just gorgeous.

The world has so much beauty to share.
