Pretty sure I’m going to feel like death tomorrow morning, after scraping all the gravel off the top of a layer of mesh filter material and draining our pond, bucket by bucket, then washing the muck and mud and mess that had built up over the past six years since we built it….. I spent hours crawling around in the bottom of a deep hole, becoming more and more covered in muck, as I cleaned it all out, and then rebuilt it all.
The pond/waterfall/stream has been turned off since we started the exterior renovations and, over the past month, the remaining water in the pond had turned into a toxic-looking soup of algae.
It’s going to be a long slog to get our yard back in shape once the renovations are done….which is still a ways off.
But after a shit-ton of effort today, I have the water feature back in action. Though it will probably take a day for the water to clear up.
I can barely move. My elbows are in agony, and I’m sure a lot more is going to hurt a lot worse tomorrow…..when we have more yard work to do.
I didn’t have a photo…but as I was looking out at the small win, I looked down and saw this dead fly…..et tu Phaonia subventa, et tu…..
