Water Conservation

by The Philosophical Fish

Lawn watering restrictions are now in effect in many municipalities in British Columbia. From May 1 to October 15, residential lawn watering is limited to once a week, with automatic watering allowed between 5am and 7am and manual watering between 6am and 9am.

Even-numbered addresses can water on Saturdays, while odd-numbered addresses can water on Sundays.

Trees, shrubs, and flowers can be watered with a sprinkler any day between 5am and 9am, or any time using hand watering or drip irrigation.

A changing climate is making water more precious as snow and rain become less predictable.

We all need to do our parts.

Because we are having outside renovations done…our yard is a monumental disaster and our irrigations system has largely been destroyed in the construction process. Until things are finished, the best we can do it hand water and hope we can keep the plants alive.

The lawn?

Yeah, we really don’t have one currently.

More than half of it is buried under a mess of gravel and fill, the other half is just a complete bed of weeds and moss…witha. few blades of grass trying to eke out an existence.

And so it goes.
