Day 343 – Burrard Yacht Club Festival of Lights (Carol Ships)

Day 343 - Christmas Boating

The Carol Ships used to be a huge event over a few weeks and many, many boats joined in. Over the years the numbers have dwindled and the sailings have become fewer and fewer. I’m not sure why, it probably had something to do with liability issues and the fact that the organizers of the event started to charge fees. We are members of Burrard Yacht Club and several years ago they decided to start their own event, as did some other groups. This evening about 20 boats, all decked out with everything from lights to giant snowmen, set out from the Club and circled through the inner harbour and past Canada Place before heading back to their berths. We were out on Sol Quest, owned by good friends, and it was cold out there, but very fun.

Day 343 - Christmas BoatingOh, I remember the Carol Ships! We lived in the West End at one time, and would venture out to see them. Good capture, Paige.
