Day 295 - Pumpkin Season

295/365 (Oct 22, 2011) – There are so many things I love about Autumn. I could do without so much of the rain, but there are so many good things that I can overlook the precipitation. I love the warm heavy colours of Fall – the rich browns, golden yellows, fiery oranges, deep plums, dark conifer greens, and fabulous deep burgundy and red tones. Autumn colours are my colours, the colours I love to wear as accents to my usual black and white wardrobe. I love the smells of Fall – loamy, earthy smells. Wood burning fireplaces, soils being turned after final harvests, the dampness of the forests breathing deep before winter. And I love the sounds of Fall – rustling leaves falling to earth, chainsaws and axes cutting firewood, the pattering of rain.

Fall is a beautiful time of year if you look in the right places.
