216/365 (August 4, 2010) – Spent the day getting the ground in grime out of the topsides of the boat. 30 feet never feels so big as when you are on your hands and knees with a scrubbie pad and a bottle of cleaner. First I washed it with boat soap and a brush, then I scrubbed it from stem to stern with vim. Following that I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed it from end to end with a green scrubbie. Then I washed it again with a brush, then rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. Finally, one more boat soap wash to get rid of the residue the powdered cleanser leaves behind.
Four hours.
And the hull isn’t even done yet.
And then it all needs to be waxed and polished.
I’m tired.

It’s times like these that you need to invite friends out to go boating…..but they have to put in some sweat equity first. 🙂

Oh, don’t feel too sorry for me…Kirk has to do the waxing and polishing, and that’s a long arduous job. Even though it uses a machine, it’s not easy and he does a professional quality job.
And Marne, the flaw in your logic is that most of our friends in Vancouver also have boats….
