83/365 (March 24, 2010) – Had to take a scoot out to UBC today so I took the low road back down past Spanish Banks. I didn’t have a lot of time to take any shots, but the empty beach with the city in the background seemed so serene after the weeks of world travellers here for the Olympics and Paralympics.
On my ride back through the downtown core I noticed the banners and window dressings being stripped from the tall office buildings. The Olympic clock reads all zeros, the fences have come down, and in the Globe this morning, the Bombardier train between the Village and Granville Island is being packed up and sent back to Europe. That one is rather sad since it provided an excellent link from the skytrain to the Island. The flags on cars are dwindling in number. And the rains are returning tomorrow.
The city seems to be returning to normal.
