Dare I Hope?

by The Philosophical Fish

I almost hate to think about it. I made a deal on a different Tacoma about two weeks ago, just before we went out of town for Thanksgiving. I was so pissed off at North Shore Toyota for their attitude, deceit, and generally sneaky and underhanded sales tactics.

On the flip side…it drove me to another dealership downtown and we dealt with the Business Manager directly. Kirk called him up and told hi our tale of frustration regarding tires. He called back later and said he had a very good set of Michelin’s in the warehouse if we’d like to come see them. Kirk stopped by and said they just might do and that he’d send me down the next day.

I scooted over the day before we left for Thanksgiving and was (finally) treated well at a dealership. First step in the right direction. The guy down int he warehouse showed me the tires and whispered sideways about how Dunlops are so terrible! See!?! Not me! When the Toyota people tell you how horrible the tires are…and Toyota owns the Dunplop tire company too!

So, tires are acceptable and put aside for me. I went in to negotiate with the Business Manager and we came to an agreement. I get the Michelins, they keep the Dunlops. Some poor sap will buy a used vehicle and think he/she is getting a great deal because they will get brand new tires. The Michelins have about 90% tread left. Everyone will be happy. I said I wanted the same freebies offered by North Shore, and I’d pay for the rest.

Agreed.

OK, this time let’s write it up and I’ll put a proper and substantial deposit on it. We agreed on a price to the penny and wrote it up as a sales contract. That’s it, that’s all, nothing more or less.

Agreed.

So…if all goes according to plan, my new Tacoma will arrive sometime in December.

Fingers crossed…..
