Goodbye Little Zoom Zoom, it’s been fun.

by The Philosophical Fish

It’s like saying goodbye to an old friend. Again. A few weeks ago one of our two little CRX’s failed structurally. It was disappointing because of the two that we had, it was the one I liked to drive. But it couldn’t be repaired and so it was donated to charity. It will be stripped and drained and the parts sold to raise money for Small Animal Rescue (Kirk’s charity of choice). The second CRX, and the one we have had for much longer, said it’s last goodbye this morning. One way or another it will not come home today. It either gets sold or it goes to Scrap-it. Kirk doesn’t want to insure it again and we are bringing another vehicle home this weekend so we need the parking spot. We don’t want to be insuring three cars/trucks (the scooter doesn’t count, it’s cheap to insure).

The little blue 1984 CRX came to Kirk in a state of disrepair and the engine died within a year of purchase. He lovingly replaced the engine with one from an Acura Integra and that little car became a rocket ship! Wow was it ever fun to drive. It felt like a go-kart with a monster engine under he hood. And it was economical to drive too. He had the body work done and it was gorgeous. It was a little head turner.

But all good things must end and it is tired. Rust has taken its toll and it is getting lighter by the day. We are in the market for two new vehicles and of the two we currently have, my truck is the more reliable (shockingly!) so with winter coming, it is the logical one to hang onto until we have something else.

So the little blue car drove out today and I have to admit that I’ll miss it. Goodbye little zoom zoom, we had fun.

I’ve had more fun with this car than any other I have owned. It will be missed.
